After a our long day hiking Diamond Head, Cj caught me out on our hotel balcony relaxing before dinner. I used to be super awkward when getting my photo taken, and still am, but I'm learning to let loose and have more fun. He used to do a lot more photography when we first met, so I love when he feels inspired and takes out his camera again.
Here are a few images he captured as the sun was making it's way down. I'm wearing my American Apparel white one-piece swimsuit and a pair of shorts I made from thrifted Levi jeans I got for $3. When it comes to ripped denim shorts, I always make my own. There really is no sense in spending $50 on a pair from Urban Outfitters when you can take 10 minutes out of your day to slash an old pair of jeans, pop them in the wash, and Voilà!
On our walk to Leonard's Bakery for some famous malasadas, Cj had us stop at his favorite thrift store, Bailey's Antiques & Aloha Shirts on Kapahulu Ave. This place is so cool!! You walk in and there isn't an ounce of space that isn't consumed with hawaiian shirts. Bailey's has one of the largest selections of aloha shirts (over 15,000) with ranges from new, used, vintage, and specialty.
I had a hard time choosing between like 20 different shirts I wanted (all in the kid section. They were a bit cheaper and the sizes fit me better). I decided to go for a classic style aloha shirt, and I thought the bright red would be a fun addition to my summer wardrobe.
I found this hawaiian print two-piece set on Windsor, a few weeks before Cj and I left on our trip. I had been looking for a fun set I could easily wear in Hawaii that wouldn't break the bank. I loved the cut of both the top and skirt on this one and the price just couldn't be beat! It fit perfectly over my swimsuit, was light weight so I was comfortable in the heat, and I loved the ability to mix and match the pieces. I have since worn the crop with cut off shorts and the skirt this various other crop tops.
If you haven't checked out Windsor I'd give it a try! It's similar to Forever21 in prices and quality, but I'd have to say the cuts and style of their clothes are a bit more bold and flattering. Definitely great finds for fun accent pieces and going-out wear. I recently won a $50 gift card from them and gave it to my sister so I'm eager to see what she picked out!
