"Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self." -The Bhagavad Gita
The above quote is one that's written on the toilet door stall in my yoga studio. Every time I read it I think about how true and relevant it is to me. I've come to a realization that a few things in my life have been preventing me from developing my individuality (a personal struggle I may share with you at some point in the future) but yoga has opened a door for me to nurture my own self growth. I'm so in love with this form of self discovery.
I've practiced yoga on and off for the last 4 years, but it wasn't until about 9 months ago that I fully committed to my practice. Yoga has transformed me in many ways but most recently I've noticed a tremendous difference in my mind-body awareness. I'm so much more in tune with how my body feels and I'm learning to truly listen to it for the first time. Ive been extra aware of my feelings and getting down to the root of those feelings. I'm more conscious of the food that I need to eat and I'm finally figuring out how to recognize my gut instinct. It's really quite bizarre, and remarkable.
During a fun shoot with my lovely friends, Allison and Nellie, we shot some fun (and painful) yoga poses on a rooftop in Seattle. Both Allison and my looks are from one of my favorite yoga brands, Alo, conveniently sold at Pipe + Row in Fremont! I seriously adore this boutique. I believe shopping local and supporting small businesses in your area is so important. More looks from them coming soon! Xx
